Building a Welcoming and Non-Threatening Environment

What is the first impression a new student gets when they walk through the door to your classroom?

  • Is your room an inviting one?
  • Do they receive a smile and a welcome as they come in the room?
  • Do you take time to introduce them to other students?
  • Are the tables and chairs designed for adults or children?
  • Is there a place to spread out and work?
  • Is there interaction among students in the classroom?
