Double-Entry Diaries (DEDs) and Cornell Notes For older students who are reading large sections of text, double-entry diaries can be helpful. Click here to download a sample DED. Try this activity with your students with a book you are using in class. Model for your students what you want them to do. Students can use a simple two-column page, writing main ideas in one column, and details in the other. After using this strategy, save your DED for your resource folder. Click here to view another more detailed sample format - Cornell Notes. Great job! Let's move on to Chapter 4!
