Understanding the Law
As an administrator it is important that you understand the laws that govern your program. If you have not taken the time to read the specific laws that impact your program, then you are missing one very important element in building your local procedures.
Let's take a few minutes to visit Florida's Online Sunshine site, that houses information about current and past legislation. You may wish to bookmark the site related to laws governing education in the State of Florida. Click on the following link and you will be taken to the home page.
- Click on the link at the bottom of the page marked: Statutes, Constitution and Laws of Florida
- Scroll down to Title XVI: Education - Chapters 228-246
- Click on Title XVI
- Click on Chapter 239
At this point you can either elect to view the entire Chapter or you can click on specific areas within the Chapter.
- Click on General Provisions. This will take you to the first part of the Chapter dealing with Vocational, Adult and Community Education Programs.
- Click on Chapter 239.117.
This will take you to the specific area relating to Postsecondary Fees. When you have had an opportunity to read Chapter 239.117, use the "Back" button on your browser and return to the web-based training.
