  Screening tools:
  • can help determine the need for further assessments;
  • are usually inexpensive;
  • are usually quick to administer, score, and interpret; are sometimes appropriate for large number of people, and may sometimes be administered in a group setting;
  • have a narrow purpose;
  • provide a superficial assessment;
  • do NOT identify a person as having or not having a disability; and
  • do not require extensive staff training.
