What Is ADHD and
ADHD/Inattentive Type (ADD)?

Think about people you know who have a learning disability. Do any of them have other types of disabilities as well? Is it possible to have a physical impairment and a learning disability? How about a hearing loss and learning disability? Learning disabilities occur in individuals from all types of backgrounds. They also may be present along with other disabilities. This is known as comorbidity or conditions/disabilities co-existing together.

One example is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, often called ADD or ADHD. Individuals with Attention Deficit Disorder/Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD/ADHD) may also have learning disabilities. It is estimated that in 30% of people ADD/ADHD, a diagnosis of learning disabilities is also present. However, that also means that in 70% of occurrences, a person with ADD/ADHD will not have any diagnosed learning disabilities. That is an important distinction to be understood.
