There
is hope!
The U.S. Department
of Education has been working on a process that would seek to address
the issue of learning disabilities and the large Spanish speaking
adult population. They have heard from ESOL professionals that many
limited English proficient adults from a variety of language backgrounds
are learning disabled. The response is that they must begin somewhere
and that starting place is with the largest LEP group. The lessons
that will be learned from this effort can then be put to use addressing
the needs of adults from a variety of language backgrounds.
