The objectives of Merging Theory with Practice are:

  • To apply prior knowledge and/or information from the first web-based training to new situations

  • To know and review basic information on learning disabilities

  • To know statistics related to the learning disabled population

  • To comprehend the strategies used to accommodate different learning styles and specific deficits

  • To define attention deficit disorder with and without hyperactivity and identify best practices

  • To understand the issues associated with Adult ESOL/ESL and learning disabilities

  • To compare and contrast modifications versus accommodations

  • To apply accommodations to the testing situation

  • To apply modifications to effective teaching strategies

  • To know the importance of self-advocacy and social skills and how to teach them.

  • To create positive and appropriate learning environments through the use of effective and efficient strategies
