Types of Questions

Multiple-Choice Questions
FCAT multiple-choice questions always have four answer choices.  The answer choices are labeled A, B, C, D or E, F, G, H.  Students must choose the best answer.  A correct answer for a multiple-choice question is worth 1 point.  Click on the file folder for examples of reading and mathematics multiple choice questions and answers.   You will need the Acrobat Reader to view this file. (We have provided examples of Grades 5, 8 & 10 for Math questions and 4, 8 & 10 for Reading questions.  You can see the progression in levels of learning.)

Gridded-Response Questions
FCAT gridded-response questions require students to write their answer on a grid.  Answers may be gridded using several correct formats.  Students MUST fill in the bubbles below the grids to accurately receive credit for their answers.  A correct answer for a gridded-response question is worth 1 point.  Click on the file folder for examples of gridded-response questions and answers.
