Tips to Begin

Adult secondary credit programs must provide critical thinking, problem solving and cross content training.  Subject matter can no longer be taught in isolation or as mere facts if adult students are to be successful in passing this required state assessment.  Adult secondary education instructors must integrate alternative methods of testing and teaching into the curriculum.

Implementing instruction to support the FCAT in adult secondary education programs will require the development of curriculum, instructional strategies and teacher training which will dramatically change the way adult educators teach.

Expectations for higher performance in the adult secondary education programs will continue to rise and as a result the role of instructional leaders in the school improvement process will need to change accordingly.  Remember, our students are expected to pass the FCAT in 2002.
