Needs Assessment

Conduct the needs assessment from Appendix J.  Share with fellow educators the key results found for your area.

Setting Up for Success

There are three types of barriers or obstacles the adult learner faces according to B. Allan Quigley in his article: The First Three Weeks: A Critical Time for Motivation, Focus on Basics, Vol. II, Issue A, March 1998. Read the article and identify ways to structure your GED Preparation program to eliminate these obstacles.

Coordination and Collaboration

Read Chapter 4, pages 4-5 and 4-6. Developing linkages is essential in today's GED program.  Collaboration brings additional resources to the GED classroom. Post on the bulletin board an example of a linkage you have made that is unique or has produced significant benefits for your program. You should include:

  • Type of partnership
  • Contributions of each partner
  • Why the partnership is/was beneficial
  • Outcomes
Resources, Appendix J

GED administrators and instructors are always seeking new materials and resources which will help them in the classroom.  Review the resources listed in Appendix J.  Post to the bulletin board additional resources and materials you have found to be effective and cost efficient.

Marketing
Adult educators need to spread the word about the new GED 2002 Series Tests.  What have you done to let adults in your area know about the changes?  Post some of your best marketing tips on the bulletin board.
