Alternate format or open-ended questions also give teachers great concern.  Teachers and students are used to finding 5 multiple-choice answers after each problem.  On the GED 2002 Mathematics Test, 20% of the questions will not have multiple-choice answers.  Students will have to figure out the answer without the opportunity for great guessing.  Now is the time for teachers to start using open-ended questions in class.
