What makes those logos so memorable?
Is it the color? The simplicity? The connection with the company?

A logo is probably one of the most effective public relations tools. One symbol or picture can represent an entire organization, its mission, character, and even the quality of its product. To be more effective, you should implement a "look" for your marketing materials. A logo is an integral part of the "look."

Most of us are not graphic artists, however, it is important to know the basic tips for effective logo use.

  1. Keep it simple - your organization's logo should be simple enough to retain legibility over a wide variety of reproductions. It should look just as good on letterhead as it does on a shirt. Also make sure that your logo is clear even when faxed.
  2. Continuity - your logo should match the look of your other materials. Logos should be used on a regular basis on everything from fax sheets to memos to the monthly newsletter.
  3. Make a connection - the best logos reflect the organization. Most people would not connect a sailboat with an electrical company. Make sure that your logo connects to your organization.

Does your organization have a logo? If it does, you will want to access it to use as part of your upcoming projects. If your organization does not have a logo, you may wish to have a logo designed. A simple logo can be quite inexpensive, but can add to the effectiveness of your marketing materials.
