Component 4 - Special Events

There's Always Time for a Celebration!

One of the fun things about public relations is planning special events for students, staff, business partners, and/or the community. Whether it is a graduation ceremony, a children's fun day, a job fair, or even a celebration of success for your classroom, special events are always an important part of the educational process as well as any good marketing plan.

To be successful, special events require good planning, and organization. However, all of your hard work will be well worth the effort in getting your positive message and enthusiasm about your program out to your targeted audience.

Need some hints to get you started? Take a look at the following ideas, as well as a case study on an actual event - International Literacy Day:

Are you ready to plan your event? Share with your colleagues possible special events that you would like to sponsor by posting them to the bulletin board. Who knows, one of your colleagues across the state or nation may have developed such an event and would be willing to share with you ideas on how to make it the most successful event of the year!
