Why Do Our Students Not Write According to Edited American English?

Teaching effective writing skills can be a difficult task.  Most of us write similar to the way we talk.  If we use incorrect grammar on a regular basis in our general conversation or if we speak using a distinct dialect, our writing skills will often reflect those speech patterns.

There are many reasons that our GED students may not use the written language effectively.  Before we can work to improve our students' writing skills, we must first address the "why" of writing problems.
