Beginning with the End in Mind The final evaluation for any VPI student is the posttest. As you began the VPI experience with each student, an ending academic goal was identified. This goal was probably to reach the reading, mathematics and language level required by the vocational program in which they are enrolled. However, the goal may also have been to increase their workplace or real-life skills. The purpose of the posttest is to see whether the student has attained the level of proficiency required to complete their postsecondary adult vocational training program and become successful in securing and retaining high skill/high wage employment. When posttesting, always use an alternate form of the pretest administered. Example: TABE, level D, Form 7 was used as the pretest so TABE, Level D, Form 8 should be used as the posttest. If the student scored low in all areas of a pretest, i.e. Reading, Language and Mathematics, then all areas must be assessed by posttesting. If an alternative assessment was used as a pretest, either form of one of the five basic skills tests listed in Rule 6A-10.040 should be used as the posttest. |
