Testing

What Tests Can I Use?

The State of Florida has approved specific basic skills tests for use in determining whether students meet the basic skills level required for completion from a vocational program in which they are enrolled.  Unless the student qualifies for an alternative assessment instrument based on documentation of a disability or limited English proficiency, the following are the tests that have been approved:

  • Adult Measure of Essential Skills (AMES)
  • Computerized Placement Test (CPT)
  • Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE)
  • Tests of Adult Basic Education - Work Related (TABE-WR)
  • Wonderlic Basic Skills Test (WBST)

If students have limited English proficiencies, you may use:

  • Adult Language Assessment Scales (A-LAS)
  • Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS)
  • English for Speakers of Other Languages Oral Assessment (ESLOA)

If you have a student with a documented disability, you may choose to use:

  • Brigance Employability Skills
  • Brigance Life Skills
  • Comprehensive Test of Adaptive Behaviors (CTAB)
  • Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS)
  • Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (STRETCH CASAS)
  • Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System - Test for Special Populations (CASAS)
  • Kaufman Functional Academic Skills Test (K-FAST)
