  Strategy One - Sell Goals

Share your excitement and generate interest about the relevance and benefits of academic instruction when integrated with career/technical interests. Communicate the goal of integration to administrators, career/technical instructors, employers of your career/technical students, and curriculum builders. Build a team that will support a successful integration effort.

Opportunities for communication:

  • Add the topic of Integration to the agenda of department meetings and initiate discussion.
  • Meet one-to-one with instructors during non-class hours.
  • Meet one-to-one with business people to share the goals.

What to discuss and/or emphasize:

  • Provide an overview of applied academics, emphasizing the benefits resulting from integrating academic and career/technical education.
  • Inform the employers of the increased abilities of their future employees.
  • Ask for suggestions from instructors and business people regarding areas, activities, and methods of delivery for integration.
