Funding With everything that is needed for the initial establishment and ongoing planning of a VPI lab, how will you ever find the funding?
There are many options available to
you. You will probably look at three primary categories of funding:
Let's take a quick look at how each of these categories of funding can be used to implement and operate a VPI lab. Grants Many VPI labs are partially or fully funded by the Carl D. Perkins Applied Technology Act Amendments. Programs receiving funds under the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Applied Technology Education Amendment of 1998 are required to follow basic tenets such as:
However, if federal funds or grants are used for initial start-up costs, it is critical that the VPI program becomes institutionalized and continuing support be provided from state and local funds. Every county in Florida also has access to Adult Education Section 231 funds. These funds are allocated based on the population and need of a given county. Districts and community colleges, as well as agencies, may apply for these funds. As with most grants, these funds are performance based. Always be realistic in your expectations when you write grants.
