Teaching Styles

Now that you know about the different types of learning styles for students, what kind of a teacher are you?  Go to the following link and take the Teaching Style Inventory. http://snow.utoronto.ca/Learn2/mod3/tchstyle.html

Were you surprised at your teaching style?  Many teachers tend to be more individualized than they may think.  However, just like students who can use all types of learning styles, you can use all types of teaching styles from very traditional to extremely individualized. The trick is to have lots of different strategies or techniques available.

The first step in increasing the range of styles in your teaching repertoire is to want to change and to believe that it is possible.  Style-flexing is a term that is often used to describe how to increase the strategies in one's style repertoire.  Basically, by using variety, you can provide a model of flexibility for students.
