It Is All About Common Sense Complementary Skills are often called common sense skills. The Merriam-Webster Online Collegiate Dictionary defines common sense as:
When you think about common sense, you probably think about those million and one little things that you just know. For example: You know that if you run across the road without looking both ways, a car could strike you. You know that if you don't file income taxes, eventually you will have to pay a severe penalty - probably worse than the taxes you were supposed to pay. You know that if you are going to be attending a business meeting that you don't show up in shorts and a tee shirt. Think for a moment about the many things that have happened during the course of your day. How many times did you rely on your common sense to get you through the many little and big things that occurred? If you think about it, you could certainly come up with a long list.
