There are also questions that the student should not ask during an interview.  Share this list with your students.

  1. What is the salary for this position?
  2. When will I get my first raise?
  3. How many vacation and sick days do I get?
  4. When can I start taking vacation and sick days?
  5. What are the fringe benefits for this job?
  6. Can I change my hours if I need to do ….?

Practice, practice, practice is the most important thing for students who are preparing for interviews.  Have students dress as they would for an interview, so together you can determine if the dress is appropriate for the workplace.  Have the students prepare resumes and job applications just as they would have to do for a real job.  Take the time to work with students so that they have a clear understanding of what is expected of them in the interview process.
