Keeping a Job

It is not enough to get a job, the new employee has to be able to keep that job.  Unfortunately, many people just don't have the skills needed to remain employed. They drift from job to job, never quite understanding why the job didn't work out - or worse, why they were dismissed or fired.  In this section, you will have an opportunity to learn about skills that will help you prepare your students to keep their jobs. Many of us were raised with basic work ethics - an honest day's pay for an honest day's work.  Learning about the working life is crucial for our students.

Keeping a job is a difficult task.  It requires a lot of skills as well as hard work.  It is important that students evaluate their own job keeping skills. The following inventory can be useful to students.  Click on the icon and print a copy of the inventory.  You may want to take the inventory yourself prior to having students complete it.
