Security Items
1. It is the responsibility of the Florida GED Administrator to hold an annual conference or workshop that includes a session on test security.
 
2. The examiner, alternates and proctors should discuss a plan for emergencies before each test administration.
 
3. The state GED Administrator assists with the transfer of materials when opening or relocating a test center.
 
4. The Chief Examiner must acquaint GED teachers with misconceptions and practices that damage test security.
 
5. There should be three (3) feet of space surrounding each GED candidate during test administration.
 
6. Secure storage cannot be located in the institution’s main office area.
 
7. Examiners should make page-by-page inspection of all test booklets when collecting them from candidates.
 
8. If it is likely that test materials have been stolen, the theft must be reported to the police immediately.
 
9. Examiners must inform candidates that sharing information about the test is grounds for invalidation of test scores.
 
10. The Florida GED Administrator, or his/her representative, must make periodic site visits to all GED Test Centers.
 
11. A state may have its own policies involving test compromise or loss, in addition to those of the GED Testing Service.
 
12. The GED candidate should present an ID with a signature so that it can be checked carefully against the signature on the registration form.
 
13. Alternative arrangements must be made for testing candidates where a test loss has occurred.
 
14. The examiner may complete, or have the candidate complete, the demographic data before the test administration.
 
15. Pens should be collected at the end of the Writing Test to minimize marking in ink on the multiple-choice portion of the answer sheet.
 
16. The examiner may not receive visitors or phone calls during the test administration.
 
17. All test sites must have an alternate examiner.
 
18. Secure storage should be available for all candidates’ belongings.
 
19. The examiner must read Sections 6.4, 6.5 and 6.6 before each test administration.
 
20. The examiner should use a seating chart.
