* Did you remember all of the major points in planning your timeline?  After the phone contact from the Workforce Development Board, did you:
  • Conduct a needs assessment?
  • Set up an advisory council?
  • Develop a plan that included community demographics, needs, available resources (both financial and human), trends and technology needs?
  • Obtain support from your educational hierarchy?
  • Obtain input from all of the players?
  • Obtain funding?
  • Select an appropriate physical site?
  • Hire instructors and staff?
  • Purchase appropriate materials, supplies and equipment?
  • Identify and purchase appropriate technology for the classrooms and staff?
  • Provide staff development and training?
  • Market your program?
  • Develop appropriate forms and processes?
  • Communicate, communicate and communicate some more with all parties involved?
If you included these types of objectives in your timeline, you are on your way to starting a new GED program.  Remember, for more information on program planning, click on the following link to “Chapter 4 – Administration of GED Programs” of the Florida GED Administrators’ Manual.
