Your Findings
OK, you have completed
a random selection of students and you have pulled data for each of those
students. What type of results have you found?
-
Were you able to find registration
forms for all of your randomly selected students?
-
If yes, good for you.
-
If not, what happened
poor record keeping, files not in order? Better check this one out to see
what is going on.
-
Were you able to find the
initial assessment results for all of your randomly selected students?
-
Were all students enrolled
in GED programs initially assessed at or above a 9.0 grade equivalent on
the TABE (Tests of Adult Basic Education) or a similar level using another
approved test?
-
If yes, good for you students
with a 9.0 grade equivalent or higher tend to do better in the GED program.
-
If no, what happened were
students enrolled in the GED program no matter the initial assessment score?
-
If yes, then it is time
to take a serious look at your assessment and placement procedures.
-
If no, better investigate
to find out what assessment and placement procedures are in use in your
program.
-
Were you able to find final
assessment results for all of your randomly selected students?
-
Were those final results
based on the GED Practice Test? Score one for you and your teachers.
The GED Practice Test is an excellent indicator of student success on the
Official GED Tests. Teachers should be using this instrument before
students register for the official tests.
-
No assessment results
how do your teachers know that students are ready to take the Official
GED Tests? Better do a little investigating on this one. Final
assessment is not required, but it can make a difference in your final
graduation rate.
-
Did you locate the GED Test
results for all of your randomly selected students?
-
How many of the GED students
actually passed all or part of the GED Tests?
-
What is the passing rate
for students who enroll in your GED instructional program?
