* Using Data to Assess Performance in GED Programs

Data is really nothing but a bunch of numbers until you start asking and answering some basic questions.  Use the following questions to evaluate your program data.

  • Are the majority of students remaining in the program until they earn their high school diplomas?
  • Are students passing parts or all of the GED Tests?
  • How long are students in the program before they pass part or all of the GED Tests?
  • Why are students leaving the program before they complete?
    • Is this an area with high mobility?
    • Is there a problem with the time and days the class is offered?
    • Is there a problem with the instructional program?
  • What are some things that could be done to improve the number of students who remain in the program and are successful?
  • What are some things that could be done to improve the success of students in the program?
  • Did the students who continue to remain in the program:
    • Enroll late in the year?
    • Enroll early in the year, but fail to make progress?
