Presentation Software

There are a number of presentation software packages available; however, the most popular of these is Microsoft PowerPoint. It is a sophisticated program that is used for assembling and arranging computer slide shows including graphics, text, video, and audio. PowerPoint can be used in a classroom, computer lab, or on the Internet. PowerPoint requires a computer (usually a laptop) and a computer data projector). Both programs produce applications that can be shown in a classroom or can be run by students in the lab or on the web.

Over the past few years, the cost of computer data projectors has dropped substantially making them much more affordable. As a professional presenter, you may need to purchase your own projector as many programs do not have them readily available for you. To find out more about projectors, check the websites for manufacturers such as Dell, Epson, Toshiba, etc.

Presentation software is relatively easy to learn and use. If you have Microsoft PowerPoint at your work or on your home computer, you can access a tutorial that is included with the software (depending on the version of Microsoft Office that you use). In Microsoft Office XP, just open PowerPoint and click on Help. You can type in the word tutorial and it will take you to the tutorial that is part of the office suite. Other versions of PowerPoint may require that you access the Microsoft website at: www.microsoft.com.

There are also many different online tutorials that you may wish to access. Take a look at some of the following links to learn more about this presentation software:
